Houdini Vellum Grain / Sand / Dirt Fx - Siren Head

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

12th July 2020

This is an old piece of work from 3 years ago that I decided to pick up & revive it with better visual quality.

The Siren Head model was made years go & I decided to put it to some good use with this Houdini Vfx piece.

The simple idea is simply to showcase a slightly more creative & more complex grain fx simulation in Houdini.

  • 3D model mainly sculpted & Zremesh in Zbrush

  • Model then imported to Houdini for semi-procedural UV unwrap, rigged & animated for vfx stage

  • Texture in Substance Painter

  • Material & renders done using Redshift in Houdini

  • Model previews prep & rendered in Marmoset
